Parenting for a Peaceful World Lecture

December 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Join Robin Grille for a very special weekend beginning in the American Revolution village of Yorktown, Virginia on Friday evening between 6 and 8 p.m. in the historic sanctuary of Grace Episcopal Church.  As Robin shares, there is a heart-based r-evolution happening right now in our western culture, and parents who want to leave a sustainable and peaceful world to their children are leading the way.

Lysa Parker, founder of Attachment Parenting International, will introduce Robin and share her views of how parenting is changing.  API celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and was featured on the cover of  TIME magazine.  Read Kindred’s coverage of the TIME issue.

Robin Grille’s book, Parenting for a Peaceful World, is being released in a new edition in November 2013.  Both Robin and Lysa will be available for book signings after this event.  Lysa Parker’s book is Attached at the Heart: Eight Proven Parenting Principles for Raising Connected and Compassionate Children.

The church is providing a festive, lighted tent with hot cider for before and after gathering.  Please be generous with your donations to this event, as there is no set fee.

WORKSHOP ONE: Attachment, Relationships and The Nature of Human Ecstasy

The Heart to Heart Parenting Workshop is based on Robin’s book, Heart to Heart Parenting: Nurturing Your Child’s Emotional Intelligence from Conception to School Age.  With practical wisdom and deep compassion, this book advocates strongly for parents’ rights to be supported, and to find the greatest joy and pleasure along the way.

Participants in this workshop will discover a map that makes parenting into an adventure, and the most profound personal growth journey you will ever undertake. Robin Grille, an Australian psychologist with twenty-five years’ experience, brings you unique perspectives on:
• establishing a deep connection with your baby and child—long before birth!
• finding your inner heart-voice—your personal source of parenting wisdom and intuition
• understanding your baby’s and child’s emotional needs
• healing ourselves as we heal our children
• co-operative parenting—the secret to easier and more pleasurable parenting.

WORKSHOP TWO: When Parents Were Children (after lunch)

You may not know it, but your own life as a child is one of the strongest influences on how you parent today.

Do you remember what it felt like to be a child? Are there some memories you’d rather forget? Some memories that bring you joy? The emotional paths you trod as a child hold a treasury of wisdom. Just to touch lightly upon the emotions of childhood can help you immensely to:

  • Understand your own child better, from the inside
  • Free you from repeating old inherited behaviour patterns
  • Intuit what your baby and child is asking for and know how to meet his/her emotional needs
  • Help your child to trust you and listen to you
  • Help your child to feel heard, seen and secure
  • Heal old emotional wounds and bring more joy to parenting
  • Deepen your sense of connection to others and to your community

In this workshop you will be shown ways to safely tap into the wisdom of your ‘inner child’, and gain much trust in your inner knowing about how to respond to your child. This process can be very freeing, empowering, healing for you and richly enhancing of your relationship with your child.

A continental breakfast and healthy lunch is included in the cost of the workshop.  The immediate area surrounding the church and historic village provides for shopping and dining in the Riverwalk, beachside shopping area.  Lodging is within walking distance of the event.  Read more about the rare retreat at the link below.
